My Story

I have always had a love of great stories. Be they epic or mundane, true to life or wild-spun fantasies, or just anecdotes about life, I wanted to hear them. As I got older, I knew it was my calling in life to not just listen to the great stories of the world, but to help share them with others.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I made the weird-but-exciting leap from living in South Minneapolis’ Powderhorn Park neighborhood to packing up all of our worldly possessions (plus a toddler and three cats) and driving across the country to live in Vermont and possibly get some chickens.

Life in Vermont is a lot like life in Minnesota, albeit with more mountains. In the last three years I’ve worked in nonprofit communications with the Vermont Humanities Council, which has been an eye-opening experience in my new home state. It’s afforded me the opportunity to deepen my connections with the cultural sector through collaborations with libraries, museums, universities, non-profits, and government. That is, until recently.

In April of 2025, my position with Vermont Humanities was cut as a result of illegal DOGE actions against the National Endowment for the Humanities to cancel funding grants for all 56 humanities councils. But I remain passionate about the work, and I am eager to continue the fight to sustain and protect the humanities.

I am driven to continue telling stories on the human condition, supporting marginalized communities, and making a difference where I can. I am ready to sharpen my wit and my pencils (I’m a pencil guy, don’t @ me) to make the world a bit more lively. Reach out if you want to learn more about what I do or work together on a project!
